Shams Shamsuddeen is the lead lawyer at SHAMS LAW PC. Shams has graduated from the prestigious Faculty of Law, University of Dhaka, with a Master of Law degree from the same law school. He went to the European University in Switzerland for Diplomacy, Law and Businesses. Shams went to the University of Saint-Denis, University of Nanterre, University of Pierre Marie Curie and University of Pantheon-Assas in France for different studies, such as law, politics, literature and language. Shams obtained a Fellowship in Public International Law from the “Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales” (Institute of International Higher Studies). He completed NCA requirements from the University of Ottawa-UOttawa. Shams obtained the Certificate of Adjudication from York University. He achieved the Certificate of Ethics and Professionalism from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and from the University of Leeds, UK, Shams obtained the Certificate of Ethics. From the Church of Scientology, California, he obtained the Certificate of Honesty and Integrity.
He earned the diploma of “European Export Attache”. Shams learned Civil Litigation with Rahman and Rahman Barristers. Served as Director of Terem International and Trade and Business International – TBI in Paris and Brussels. Bengali-French-English interpreter and translator, Shams worked with French National Police Headquarter, French National Court of Asylum and OFPRA. Shams dealt with Refugee Law and Finance in Paris, France, for more than a decade. He was founder-president of TRIPLEi2d, a French local NGO, established in 2007 in Paris, France, to help refugee claimants in France. Shams migrated to Canada in 2010. Since 2012, he has been involved in Personal Injury Law, mainly motor vehicle accident claims, in different capacities with big law firms in Ontario. Shams completed his articling twice, in Ontario with a personal injury law firm and in Manitoba with a criminal defense lawyer. After the completion of the course of Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education – CPLED, he was Called to the Bar in 2021 in Manitoba and in Ontario thereafter. Shams’s practice areas are Personal Injury, Litigation and Class Action Lawsuit.
Shams is multilingual, including fluent in French.
Sharmin Doty Shams brings a diverse background in education, law, immigration studies, management, and community engagement to her role at Shams Law Professional Corporation.
She earned a Master’s Degree in Literature from the National University of Bangladesh and later completed her LL.B. at Chittagong Law College before immigrating to Canada. After arriving in Canada, Sharmin further expanded her professional knowledge by completing an Immigration Consultant program through the Academy of Learning.
Before joining Shams Law, Sharmin built experience across both education and business management. She previously worked as a teacher at Chittagong Grammar School (CGS) and later held management roles with businesses in Ontario, including Tim Hortons and EggMarts.
Sharmin joined the marketing team at Shams Law, where her strong interpersonal skills, relationship-building abilities, and extensive professional network quickly became valuable assets to the firm. Her ability to connect with people, build community relationships, and identify new opportunities led to her advancement to the role of Marketing Manager.
In her current position, Sharmin supports the firm’s marketing, community outreach, relationship development, and business growth initiatives, helping strengthen Shams Law’s presence and connections within the communities it serves.
Prasad Palav brings a strong academic foundation and international legal background to Shams Law Professional Corporation.
He earned his LL.B. in Mumbai, India, before continuing his legal education in Canada. Prasad subsequently completed a Diploma in Canadian Law and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
Prasad currently works as a Articling Student at Shams Law PC, supporting the firm’s lawyers with legal research, file preparation, documentation, case organization, and day-to-day client matters.
He is also progressing through the Ontario lawyer licensing process and is expected to be called to the Ontario Bar in March 2027.
Over the past three years, Prasad has become a valued member of the firm, known for his dedication, analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.

Bavithra Vigneswararajah is a Licensed Paralegal with more than 10 years of experience in legal practice and client advocacy, with a particular focus on personal injury, accident benefits, administrative law, and tribunal representation.
She works closely with individuals navigating legal and insurance processes following accidents and injuries, providing practical guidance and strong advocacy throughout their claims. Her approach is centred on helping clients understand their rights, navigate complex procedures, and pursue fair outcomes.
Bavithra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law from Queen’s University. She is also currently completing her LL.B. through the University of London.
In addition to her legal practice, Bavithra is an experienced Paralegal Instructor, where she shares her practical knowledge and professional experience with aspiring legal professionals.
Her work is grounded in compassionate client service, effective advocacy, and a strong commitment to access to justice.
Lana Devrisashvili is an internationally trained lawyer with more than 10 years of professional experience in public service and legal administration in Georgia.
Before moving to Canada, Lana worked with several public institutions, including the Public Service Development Agency, Tbilisi City Hall, and the Transport and Urban Development Agency, where she gained extensive experience in public-sector legal and administrative matters.
After immigrating to Canada, Lana continued to strengthen her legal education by completing programs in Law Clerk Studies, Immigration Assistance, and Canadian Common Law. She is currently working toward obtaining her Canadian lawyer licence while pursuing an LL.M. in Energy and Infrastructure at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
Lana currently works with Shams Law Professional Corporation, where she supports the firm’s legal team while continuing to develop her knowledge of the Canadian legal system.

Legal Assistant – Accident Benefit at Shams Law Professional Corporation
Sumaiya Israil brings a diverse professional background spanning marketing, communications, event coordination, financial services, and business management to her role at Shams Law Professional Corporation.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Linguistics from East West University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2017. After moving to Canada, she continued her education at Centennial College in Toronto, graduating from the Global Business Management program in 2021.
Sumaiya began building her professional experience while at university, serving as an Event Coordinator with the East West University Photography Club (EWUPC) from 2015 to 2017. She later entered the communications field as an Intern Copywriter at Roebuck Communications, followed by a role as Copywriter at NextVentures.
She subsequently joined BRAC, where she worked as a Senior Marketing Executive, further developing her experience in communications, marketing strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
After establishing herself in Canada, Sumaiya transitioned into the financial services sector and joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2022. She worked there for more than three years as a Senior Wealth Management Analyst, gaining valuable experience in financial services, client support, administration, and working within a highly regulated professional environment.
Her multidisciplinary background in communications, marketing, business, and financial services allows Sumaiya to bring strong organizational, interpersonal, and client-service skills to the Shams Law team.
Eric Karimipour brings a multidisciplinary background in architectural engineering, civil engineering, operations, administration, human resources, and client service to his work at Shams Law Professional Corporation.
He has an academic background in Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering and is currently completing his Paralegal studies in Ontario, further developing his knowledge and practical understanding of the Canadian legal system.
Eric also brings several years of professional experience in operations, management, administration, HR, and client-facing roles. Throughout his career, he has managed large teams and supported multi-location operations, with responsibilities spanning documentation, compliance, staffing, payroll, training, scheduling, and day-to-day administrative processes.
He is now focused on building his experience within the legal field and applying his strong organizational, communication, administrative, and client-service skills in a professional legal environment.
His diverse professional background, combined with his ongoing legal studies, enables him to contribute a practical, structured, and service-oriented perspective to the Shams Law team.
Paola Andrea Ortega Loaiza recently joined Shams Law Professional Corporation as an Articling Student. She graduated in 2025 from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and holds a Master of Laws in Canadian Common Law. Paola is an internationally trained lawyer from Colombia and obtained her law degree from the University of Santiago de Cali.
Paola gained legal experience while working in the legal department of the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute Villa Hermosa (INPEC). As part of her work, she also supported vulnerable members of the population and assisted low-income prisoners with legal requests, including applications for 72-hour temporary release.
